A PC and a Linux user walk into a bar.
The Mac user sees it and ducks….

  2. 2 devolute Apr 13th, 2007 at 8:42 am

Whoaaa, this is in the minority of Mac/PC/Linux humour that is actually funny. Mind: blown.

  3. 3 eniv Apr 13th, 2007 at 11:45 am

Dumb mac users think PC runs only windoze! :D

  4. 4 bill Apr 13th, 2007 at 11:56 am

I was torn between calling the first guy PC or Windows, but I stuck with PC to better reflect common societal naming conventions, such as the “I’m a PC, I’m a Mac” commercials. I never did understand how Macs weren’t “personal computers”….

  5. 5 blunckhouse Apr 13th, 2007 at 12:11 pm

“Dumb mac users think PC runs only windoze!”

Dumb PC user thinks Macs only run Mac OS. Sorry, your point is not valid anymore. Macs run Mac OS, Windows & Linux, too.

  6. 6 klokop Apr 13th, 2007 at 12:39 pm

Moderately funny. Not SO funny is ‘blows my mind’, anyway
    :/

  7. 7 rich Apr 13th, 2007 at 1:10 pm

If pc’s are so bad - why do Macs run windows? erm….

  8. 8 Sam Apr 13th, 2007 at 2:30 pm

Dumb MAC users think paying more for the same hot, heavy, hardware with less available software is cool. Who cares which OS is running. What a ship of fools.

  9. 9 I own both Apr 13th, 2007 at 3:12 pm

Macs may be a bit slower, cost more, and have less software, but you have to admit they definitely do look cool as ƒu¢k. Those titanium laptops with the ambient-light-sensitive illuminated keys are SLICK. My PC looks and feels, I don’t know, cheaper. Can’t put my finger on it, it just isn’t as refined. Only Sony seems to come close, but they’re almost the same as the Mac design anyway.

  10. 10 Jo Apr 13th, 2007 at 3:31 pm

Far be it for this mere WOW player to point it out, but “stereotypes” is the correct spelling, not “sterotypes”.

Dumb mac users think PC runs only windoze! :D

    Dumbest. Comment. Ever.

A few of us Mac users recognize that a Mac IS a PC. That would be Personal Computer for all of you who drink a Coke, use Band-Aids and Kleenex.
Many of us like a pop, and find adhesive bandages and tissues to be suitable.

    :P

Mac OS vs. Windows works, not Mac vs. PC….

  12. 12 Munan Apr 13th, 2007 at 4:24 pm

Oh, and since the new Macs are using Intel processors too, you’ll find they’re not only faster than their counterparts made by the likes of Dell, Compaq and Sony, but pound for pound, they’re cheaper too.
Not to mention they’re going to outlast anything shat out of the Dell turd factory.

  13. 13 Jooka Apr 13th, 2007 at 4:42 pm

Yes, Munan is correct. Go to the websites of dell and apple for example and configure two configuration-wise identical boxes. In most cases the mac costs less.

“If pc’s are so bad - why do Macs run windows?”

So PCers who switch to Macs can keep worrying about viruses, and have time to unlearn their bad habits.

  16. 16 Trader Joes Apr 13th, 2007 at 9:05 pm

Really TJ? So PCers could worry about viruses? That is why Macs runs Windows? Really now? Typical, cant come up with a real alternative reason eh? Fact is they run Windows because most if not all users who are thinking about using a Mac “already” know how to use Windows…wonder why? You dont see Mac emulators running in Windows do you? Wonder why? Duh….

  17. 17 TOTAL JERK Apr 13th, 2007 at 9:46 pm

  19. 19 Jessy Apr 14th, 2007 at 12:43 am

So in other words the girl was perfectly suited to “Bill-goggles”? No wonder you switched to a Mac…
I just noticed you thanked me in your “special thanks”.. thanks? hehe. I’m sure I’ll catch more echoes of our conversations in forth-coming strips.

  20. 20 Doc Apr 14th, 2007 at 8:11 am

I dont think many will get this comment, unless your over your 30’s, or REALLY into hardware and tech.

    —————————–

“Dumb mac users think PC runs only windoze!”

Dumb PC user thinks Macs only run Mac OS. Sorry, your point is not valid anymore. Macs run Mac OS, Windows & Linux, too.
    —————————–

Yeah, took “mac’s” a while, windows has ran macOS since Mac LE (classic ones in high school)… vMac, BasiliskII (thank god for open source and portability) to name two off the top of my head at 4 the morning on a friday night (guess 4am saturday now), playing EV in a window running faster than light on a Amd 300Mhz back then was great, and other OS’s too (BeOS, was great for video too, on x86) without violating the warranty.

Linux runs anything, on anything, backwards or sideways, without rebooting. ;)

And “not valid anymore” yea, Ok….. has it been that long? I was getting tired of waiting, thank god they found a way to keep the leashes on you guys without a resource fork in your file (ResEdit was the hack and conversion tool before Pc exchange), gotta love licensing.

    (cough iTunes cough)

Now me and my Mac friend (no ’s) for the past 7 yrs, can share pictures and documents!
(audio files can only sent to mac users from pc’s but not the other way around… *see licensing)

BTW how much do mac users pay for that fancy eye candy X desktop that’s on top of a slightly still botched up (originally is great, BSD) open sourced os core?

So, go ahead open a terminal window (if you can find it) and type uname -r at the prompt.

Then when the kernel responds with an uber cool version number, just smile and act like it’s all apple and worth the price you paid to “be completely different” and locked to that box.

Go pretend, see… I like functionality and flexibility. I get more done and rule the world too with less cost and overhead (and i still have more stacks to play with too).

But still, now matter which “OS” breaks of the 3, I can grab a knoppix cd and fix all 3 computers.

And that was the joke…. lol
(there was two linux guys, one already had the table reserved for the other 3)
    MUHAhahAhAHAHHHHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAAAaaaaha

  23. 23 Adam Apr 15th, 2007 at 12:03 am

Windows cannot run a Mac Emulator because its rubbish, linux needs someone with a degree in computing science to understand it and Mac OS doesn’t have the software that windows does.

In short, there all pretty crap. So I gave up trying to find what was best and discovered that there is more to life than computers. Not all that much, but enough to keep me busy in summer.

  24. 24 dan Apr 15th, 2007 at 5:42 pm

I used a mac once and it was all like peepbeepeepeep and it ate my paper for school tomorrow.

  25. 25 Trader Joes Apr 16th, 2007 at 5:24 pm

Listen, fact is that it does not matter which OS is “better”. The ONLY thing that matters is can you run the apps that you need to run on the OS, that’s it. An OS just by itself is interesting only to a very small niche crowd. Apps are what is interesting to the VAST majority of computer “users” out there.

If you happen to really like app X, and app X runs on the OS that you currently have installed, then that OS is the right one for _you_. If app X does not run on the currently installed OS, then that OS is not the right one for _you_.

There is no universal “windows is better than mac os”, or “linux is better than windows”, or any other silly statements like those.

The OS is the wrong thing to be focusing on…focus on the right things…the apps.

Last I checked, PC was hardware, not an operating system.

    Idiots.

Next time, if you’re going to insult Linux users, at least have half the brain of a normal one.

“A Windows user, an OS X user, and a Linux user (opt: Linux distro user) walk into a bar…”

  31. 31 Richard Nov 29th, 2007 at 5:16 am

I disagree. All 3 of these systems have there weak and strong points. MacOSX provides exelent security, looks nice, and is very inovative, however, it asks for verification a little to often and cant run all the windows programs. Windows looks fairly nice, and the creative idea of an oh-so-conveniant EXE file makes it easy to run and create programs, however the EXE file is also conveniant for hackers, and lets face it, windows has TONS of errors. Linux has lots of distributions, and supports many if not all developer tools, another thing about linux is it is compleley customizable. (in case you care im a linux guy but run a double boot with windows and linux. but dont think i dont know the capabilitys of a mac)

But you arent here for rants, your here for jokes… heres one i made up….

–A MacOSX, Windows Vista, and Kubuntu(Linux Distrobuion), computer jump off a building, who hits the ground last?
–The Windows Vista pc, It stopped for an error on the way down.

  32. 32 Quartermeat Jan 1st, 2008 at 8:38 am

I can’t even read this whole thing because Linux is an operating system and MAC and PC are general types of computers. Windows can now run on both a PC and a MAC and so can Linux. MACs and PCs are comparable and Windows, Linux and OS/10 are comparable. Not PCs, MACs, and Linux. I just can’t compare them, even jokingly. Maybe I’m an ass. Maybe I’m picky. idk. Am I the only one?

Wonder why? Duh….

actually, look at flyakite osx or project 86, there is a huge emulation and downright configuration for osx to run on non mac machines, try again dude.

and the reason that macs run windows is that most of the offices and high schools that require students learn office software use microsoft office, and that is because of the previous price difference in apple and “pc” computers. a few years later you have a generation of kids raised on windows, thats what they know, so wen you already know windows and you have a job that requires an office software package people know windows software. personally, i think that Microsoft office besides that little paper clip is the best thing that company ever put out 2003 edition that is. apple has to be able to run windows software to even begin to enter the professional market. if you look though at what is being used now for any major publications, its all on mac software, all your editing and layout is done on macs. colleges are using macs for the media and entertainment majors and pcs for the typing of papers and whatnot. since osx and windows will both boot on a mac and not a “pc” it would make sense that the college students are buying macs like they are. once you learn that there is office software that will do all the things that windows software can do that do not require windows you no longer need your dual boot, plus you can get most of your software either pre-installed on your machine or free. I haven’t paid for Office and I type papers constantly, I edit for a newspaper, work at a 1500 seat theater that has an annex with another 500 seat capacity theater as a sound engineer, and enjoy all my media from one place. a 13 inch macbook. the same config from dell would have been heavier, less able to perform my editing and sound management needs, less media friendly, and had a much shorter battery life. i get 5 hours plus battery life that equals portability, which is essential on a college campus and any job the doesnt take place in one office 40 hours a week. not to mention the dell was three hundred dollars more expensive.
I dotn have time to sit and hack at the keyboard all day configuring the 9 different softwares I would need to make something happen on a computer, i need it now. when my pc died a week and a half before a majr show and twoo weeks before finals i ordered a mac, i plugged in my external hd and had all my info right there, i was synced to my ipod my phone, and had all my info and contacts and calendars an hour after it came out of the box and didnt have to downlaod anything to do it all my essential software was bundled. a dell comes with a ton of bundled software but who really uses the yahoo toolbar? or how about not having to spend 60$ a year for protection” of an antivirus.

if you want to tinker and mess around all day on your computer and have fun editing and redditing over and over to make your pc yours have fun, for those of us who don’t care how it works, just that it does what i want it to when i want it to how i want it to, mac is the way to go.

just the two cents of a very busy guy who has his laptop open more than anyone should.

  34. 34 Dizzley Jan 3rd, 2008 at 8:22 pm

LOL! You OS fanboy commenters even manage to make the WoW crowd look the coolest thing about the comic.

I use All Of The Above OS depending on what I want and what computer I have in front of me.

    PMSL.

  35. 35 Gabe Jan 5th, 2008 at 6:44 am

    So true Dizzley.

fanboys need to chill and realize that their own ignorant attempts at advocacy are so pathetically ill-informed that they are worse than useless. There are guys out there who can 100 times cooler things on all 3 platforms than you can do on your platform of choice–and they won’t take the time to tell you why you’re so wrong–so I’ll do it for them and tell you to just STFU already.

  36. 36 Sulfura Jan 9th, 2008 at 4:17 am

“You dont see Mac emulators running in Windows do you? Wonder why? Duh….”

That’s because Mac OS was only for PPC Architecture, until Apple changed to Intel Processors (and the more common x86/86_64 Architecture). It is difficult to emulate an entirely different Architecture that’s why, but there are still some Emulators for PPC.

As for the used OS, I really don’t know why people have to argue so much about it. I use Windows XP if I need Windows only Software (which is rare), and i plan on buying a Macbook because I kind of like the design and interface of the OS.

As for my default OS, I switched completely to Linux some months ago because I didn’t like all that fuzz around DRM on Vista. I don’t want my Computer to restrict my possibilities so the reason for the change wasn’t because “it is better” but it keeps me free from restricting technologies.

  37. 37 Asdf Fdsa Jan 16th, 2008 at 11:36 pm

are you all aware that 90% of all computer users use PC’s, 9% for Linux and other small* browsers, and 1% Mac! Get real, Macintosh sucks, and the only thing that keeps Apple from going bankrupt is their iPod business. Get a PC.

  38. 38 crunchynut Jan 17th, 2008 at 6:20 pm

asdf fdsa, you just had to get it in there, didn’t you? Just get over your fanboy issues. using these three platforms I can tell you that all of them sucks and rocks in their own right. Does it really matter to the users of these platforms, as long as it works for them?

  39. 39 Deeljehuiswerk Jan 18th, 2008 at 12:56 am

To those of you who say that PCs (or windows works as one fellow pointed out) dont look as good as Macs, I must direct you to a company called Alienware, their computers are very stylish. Expensive yes, but thats beside the point..
